FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How do you go about using this plan to make disciples?
Each week, meet up with the person you are discipling for an hour, either in person or online. Every time you meet, simply talk about a different spoke on the Navigator Wheel and the various strategies and rhythms that accompany it. Week in and week out, keep turning the wheel!
Can I use this plan to disciple someone if I’m not doing these things myself?
Yes! Don’t wait until you’ve arrived in your faith before you start making disciples. If you do, you will never get around to it.
As you use this plan to disciple someone, challenge yourself to grow in these areas, that you too would experience greater life in Christ.
How do you choose the right person to disciple?
Sharing the gospel relationally using gospel appointments naturally flows into disciple-making. As you lead people to Christ, disciple them!
The Holy Spirit may also prompt you to come alongside another believer in your church to help them grow in their faith. If so, prayerfully act on it.
How many people can you disciple in a group at once?
While you could potentially have three people (including yourself) in a single discipleship group, one-on-one groups yield the best results.
The more people you have in your group, the less personal and intentional it will become, and the less likely each person will be to multiply.
Is this plan implying that we are saved by our works?
Absolutely not! We are saved entirely by Jesus’ works in and through His life, death, and resurrection—not by our own works or how well we live into this plan.
This plan merely helps you to discover greater, abiding life in Christ and equips you to live the life that God has called you to live.
Is this plan not legalistic?
Legalism is grounded in the law and is fueled by rule-keeping. In the end, it enslaves those who strive to live by it, because they can never measure up to its standard.
Love for Jesus and growing in relationship with Him is our driving force and motivator. Therefore, we want to live a disciplined life, so that we can glorify Him in all things.

TIMELINE
We recommend that you disciple people in three phases:
First phase—Ask people to commit and be all in for one month. It’s going to stretch them (and maybe even YOU), but trust the process. At the end of the first month, give them the opportunity to opt out with no hard feelings.
Second phase—Ask people for a year-long commitment, where you can continue to turn the Navigator Wheel and live into these spiritual disciplines and rhythms.
Obviously, that year is subject to much change. It might be shorter if they are farther along in their faith. It might be longer if their spiritual growth is slower to come. Regardless, disciple-making is less a program, and more doing life with someone, so be patient.
Third phase—Instead of simply helping the person you’re discipling own this discipleship plan, challenge them to now make disciples. As they do, help them lead that group and coach them from a distance. This step is often neglected and is why most groups do not successfully multiply.
THE POWER OF
YOUR SCHEDULE
The best way to implement these different spiritual disciplines into your life is to simply add them to your daily/monthly schedule.
The truth is, you will either manage your schedule, or it will manage you. You’ll be shocked at how easy and straightforward these rhythms are when you take control of your schedule and make these things a priority.
Once these daily and monthly rhythms are on your schedule, give yourself much grace and strive to take small steps of growth.
What feels difficult and beyond impossible now, becomes manageable (and even easy) in a week, a month, or a year.
Keep turning the Navigator Wheel, remain consistent, and you’ll be sure to grow incrementally over time. As the graph shows, taking seemingly small steps over time leads to a big change!
